Biographical / Historical
In 1908, Oxy's athletic field at Avenue 50 and Monte Vista was improved and named Baer Field in honor of Occidental president John Willis Baer. During the early years of Baer Field, our Baseball hisotrian, when writing a hostory of that sport at Oxy, found that "a few college teams without good home fields were welcomed by Oxy to play on Baer Field."
